The Lutheran Faith

Rooted in Scripture, centered on Christ, saved by Grace

As a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), we share a living, daring confidence in God's grace. Lutherans are a people who believe that God is loving, generous, and present in our lives and in the world.

Our faith is grounded in the teachings of Martin Luther, who helped people rediscover the core message of the Gospel: that we are saved by God's grace alone, through faith alone, as revealed in Scripture alone.

The Three Solas

Foundation of Lutheran theology

πŸ“œ

Scripture Alone

Sola Scriptura

The Bible is the only authoritative source for Christian faith and practice. God's Word reveals all we need to know about salvation and how to live as Christ's followers.

πŸ•ŠοΈ

Grace Alone

Sola Gratia

Salvation is a gift from God, not something we can earn or deserve. God's grace, God's undeserved love and mercy, is freely given to all who believe.

✝️

Faith Alone

Sola Fide

We receive God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Faith itself is a gift from God, given through the Holy Spirit, not a work we accomplish ourselves.

Our Core Beliefs

The Triune God

We believe in one God who exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This mystery of the Trinity is at the heart of our faith.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true human, who lived, died, and rose again for the salvation of all people. Through his death and resurrection, we have forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit calls us to faith, enlightens us with gifts, sanctifies us, and keeps us in the one true faith.

The Church

We believe the Church is the community of believers gathered around Word and Sacrament, called to proclaim the Gospel to all people.

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord... I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Sacraments

Holy acts instituted by Christ

πŸ’§ Holy Baptism

In Baptism, God claims us as beloved children and welcomes us into the family of faith. Through water and the Word, we receive forgiveness of sins and new life in Christ.

We baptize: Infants, children, and adults

🍞 Holy Communion

In the Lord's Supper, we believe Christ is truly present in the bread and wine. This sacred meal offers forgiveness, strengthens faith, and unites us with Christ and one another.

All baptized Christians are welcome at the table
